1997-1999

In our constructed landscape no built feature is permanent. Gleaming office buildings emerge from cornfields and churches are demolished for apartment blocks. In my cut negative collages from Boston and Berlin I meditate on this impermanence. Frequently I spliced portions of my black-and-white negatives together with tape, creating juxtapositions in the landscape that are alternately humorous, disturbing or surreal.
