Portfolio > Steroscopic City

2001-2002

In this series of photographs I combined the outmoded photographic technique of the stereograph with contemporary digital processes to create an elementary "virtual reality". I often added, removed, enlarged or shrank elements of these spaces, devising an uncanny version of the contemporary urban landscape. When viewed through the stereoscope these strange spaces open out into three dimensions, but the sense of depth is odd, resembling layers of stacked cutouts as in a miniature made for a puppet theater.
